Yesterday, March 29, 2010 Luke and I found out that we are having a healthy baby due October 18, 2010.
We found out 4 weeks ago that I was pregnant.......This is how it all started.......one Tuesday night I was at my parents house. I had already taken an at home pregnancy test and it was negative a couple weeks before. I thought there was no way I was pregnant....Sari is getting married this summer and it just seemed too soon after losing baby #3 this fall. Well I took pregnancy test #2 and it was immediately positive. I had been in denial for about 3 weeks.
These last 4 weeks have been very trying for us as we weren't sure if our baby would have anencephaly or not. Because we have had 2 babies with anencephaly we had an 11% chance of having another baby with anenecephaly. That gave us an 89% chance to have a healthy baby, which is huge, but with the luck we have had I just felt like you never know. Our lives are not our own, they are God's.
So after a couple nights of no sleep we headed to the MN Perinatal Clinic in Maple Grove yesterday morning at 8:30AM. We waited for what seemed like forever and then had the ultrasound. I closed my eyes at the beginning until I heard the sonographer talk about the brain and the shape. I opened my eyes and saw a head roundly shaped and the tears started rolling. We had an hour ultrasound. The doctor told us that he definitely doesn't see any signs of anencephaly or spina bifida or any neural tube defect. PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!!!!!!!
We are so excited to think that it is actually our turn to become parents. We couldn't be more excited and actually feel more ready than ever.
All the praise and glory goes to God!
After talking with the doctor, we will be going in every 2 weeks for an ultrasound and then at 20 weeks have an in depth level 2 ultrasound. My nurse practitioner told me that they will be watching me like a hawk! I am definitely ok with that.
So......I get to actually be pregnant for more than my 1st trimester. I am so thankful and it brings tears to my eyes knowing that I get to have a healthy little baby.
Obviously anything is always possible, so please just keep this little baby in your prayers that it will continue to grow and develop into a healthy baby.
Thanks friends and family!
Welcome to my life as it is...Here is where I will write my thoughts on life and where it takes Luke and I. Enjoy!

My Random Thoughts
So I woke up around 5:30AM this morning. Not on purpose, because my dogs decided they wanted breakfast an hour early today! I have been looking online and think I have a solution...

After I was awake I was trying to decide if I wanted to go back to sleep for an hour or not. I was lying in bed for a little bit and my mind started wandering. I started thinking about how I wanted a laptop....yes, random. Anyways, the reason I want a laptop is because I want to be able to sit in bed and write. I know that sounds weird.....but there are times when I want to journal, but writing takes so long. I want to start a journal that is typed. I mean, I do type like 72 words per minute or something like that. :)
Also, I have thought about writing about what I have been through since getting married. The losses Luke and I have had in our life and basically a book on marriage and life and realities. That may sound stupid to some people, but after going through what I have and discovering things about myself and marriage and God I just feel like I want my thoughts on paper.
My sister came up with a good title of a book for me, "the marriage next door" a look into the life of an average husband and wife.

I finally went to the doctor last night and they are treating me for Bronchitis. I have never had Bronchitis in my life. It sucks..... Anyways, hopefully I feel better soon. I was in bed last night at 8pm and sound a sleep soon after.
We have a pretty busy weekend ahead of us. Friday night we are just going to stay home and relax. Saturday we are heading to Hudson to some friends house for a lunch BBQ and then the girls are going shopping.
Sunday we are having Kurbis and Bethany over for dinner. I have to figure out what to cook!
So I guess not that busy, but busy enough.

Happy St. Patrick's Day
Even though I married into a Peterson, I am sitll Irish.............so............

Springtime at my home
I enjoy my house the most in the spring. I love watching the snow melt out back and seeing all the birds starting to migrate back to the pond and creek behind our house. I love the sunlight coming through the windows and the feeling of warm weather.
I especially love working in my garden. I can't wait until I can get out there and clear out the dead plants to make room for the new coming through. I love that the kids start coming out again riding their bikes and most of the adults migrate to someones driveway to watch the kids play and chat.

Sick of being Sick
I can't remember ever being sick so much in a winter. I feel like I am constantly battling a cold, cough or something.
All I can figure out is that Luke has been coaching germy little kids and brings those nasty germs home with him and infects me.
I have been coughing so much that my back and chest just ache. No fun at all. And being sick has totally ruined my plans for the weekend. We were supposed to go out with friends tonight and if I feel this crappy before 10AM I am guessing my energy will be totally gone by 4:30PM. Tomorrow Luke has a District Hockey game and then we are supposed to have dinner at his parents for my Bday, but we'll see how I feel. Ok, so that sounds depressing........but I just need to stay home and rest and get better.

I would love the rain.......
If I were at home right now snuggled in bed with my doggies at my side watching a movie.
I don't enjoy driving in the rain. I actually think it is harder to drive in the rain than snow. I can remember one time when I was working up at Trout Lake Camp for a fall retreat, my friend Steph and I drove up for the weekend and for some odd reason we decided to make our trip up late at night. It was pouring rain and I was driving her Saturn. I can remember being scared to death because I couldn't see a thing and as cars would come the opposite direction their headlights would blind me. Not fun, except for the fact that we probably had Celine Dion cranked in the car and were singing at the tops of our lungs! Oh, good memories! :)
Anyways.......driving to work this morning was much the same, except for the headlights thing. And do you notice how people not only don't know how to drive in snow, they don't know how to drive in the rain either! So annoying!
So today I would love the rain if I was curled up in bed reading a book or watching a movie and drinking hot tea. Instead I am sitting at a desk, cold, drinking coffee.....boo to rainy days.

Remember the good times; cherish the memories, but live each day moving forward. Focus your thoughts on what is before you and how you are going to get there.
"I often tell people that there are three stages you need to think about: You can't go back. You can't stay here. You must go forward," says Dr. Ray Pritchard. "There may be some good things in the past that you wish you could go back to, but in the end you have to let those go."
God's Word speaks to you clearly: "I have set before you life . . . now choose life" (Deuteronomy 30:19).
Yes, Lord, I do choose life. Amen.
Sari gave me this pic, it is from just after Christmas.

It's All A Blurr!
Last weekend was fun in Fargo. Luke's team finished 5th out of 64!! I had a great time however came home exhausted from all the hockey and late nights of playing Left, Right, Center with all the parents. The good part is that Luke and I wont about $150 total playing! :)
The weekend was basically a big blurr of hockey and more hockey, but we had a great time and it was great to see the kids do so well.
Until next time...
