Getting SO BIG

Aubrie will be 10 weeks old on Thursday, tomorrow! Crazy!

We had our 2 month doctor appt. yesterday and she weighs 10 # 13.5 oz. and is 23.5 inches long. She is in the 50th percentile for weight and head and in the 90th for height!!!! She grew 4 inches since she was born! The doctor said that really doesn't mean anything, like she won't necessarily be tall (cuz Luke and I are so tall!) they just have growth spurts at different times.

Aubrie did really well with her first set of shots. I couldn't watch, but of course when I saw my baby girl look at my and start crying wondering why the heck she just got poked I cried too. I don't know how you don't cry!
So since Aubrie got what she needed for Christmas to be able to move into her own room and she is practically to big for the bassinet I figured we should make the transition now to her own room, especially since I am going back to work next week part time.
So Monday night we did our new bedtime routine, Bath, Book, Bottle and Bed. It worked great! She slept for 10 1/2 hours and I actually cleaned out my pantry!!! Then yesterday after shots and having a fussy day she still slept in her crib 9 1/2 hours! She is such a good baby! I was even able to work out last night.

Now, as she is supposed to be napping upstairs and just started crying I am wondering if I let her cry or go get her. She isn't the best napper. She sleeps for about 30 mins. and then wakes up....not sure what to do about that one. So as I type she is crying...poor thing. :)

A Wonderful First Christmas

Our little Santa Baby

Christmas Day - she was NOT happy - unfortunately we all started to get a cold on Christmas Day.

Christmas Eve at my parents house.

Meeting Great Grandma Gloria for the first time. Grandma said, "Wow, He is sure heavy!!" It was funny that she thought she was a "he" and that she is so heavy. Grandma was very alert and "with-it" on Christmas it was wonderful. Though it was sad not having my Grandpa there for the first time. I miss him.

4 Generations.....It was exciting to take this picture.
We had a wonderful first Christmas with Aubrie. She was able to meet her Great Grandma Gloria for the first time and meet my cousin Abby! Aubrie was also able to hang out with both of her Aunts and Uncle's at Christmas. She loves them all so much!
Santa (AKA - Luke) gave Aubrie an Easy Bake Oven, because I never got one growing up and I always wanted one. So we are just going to wrap that up every year until she can use it. Santa also brought her a really cute Gophers onesie and some books.
Grammy & Papa got Aubrie her mobile for her crib and a Sleep Sheep that makes white noise for her transition to her crib - which is done!!! Don't worry I will post about that! :)
And Grandma and Grandpa Peterson got Aubrie a super cool toy, like one of the ones at the doctors office with the wire and balls that you slide around as well as some cute outfits and a cool mat that sings to her when she presses the different color fish. (kids toys are REALLY hard to explain and I have no clue what they are called yet!!)
It is funny how Christmas was totally about Aubrie. It was wonderful, we wouldn't have it any other way. I was more excited to open up her Christmas presents than my own.
Which Luke and I did get some fun stuff from our parents who spoil us! The highlight from my parents was custom car mats for the new Suburban and the highlight from Luke's parents was a Shopvac for Luke and new Ugg boots from Costco for me! I love my boots, this is my 2nd pair!

Now time for New Year's!

The Best Christmas Present EVER!!!!

Tuesday's are my favorite day of the week because I get to go to my ECFE class, (Mommy and Me class) with Aubrie. Well, on Monday this week Luke asked me if I would stay home for a package that was coming via FedEx that he needed me to sign for. I looked at him and said, "No way! My class is the highlight of my week, figure out another way to get it here!" I didn't care if it was a present for me, I was NOT missing my class. He even said that it was a surprise for me and I didn't care one bit. I thought to myself, the only surprise I would stay home for is to see my best friend!

So Tuesday morning I woke up and again it was FREEZING outside. I got a call from my mom and she said Deb had called her and said class was cancelled. I figured it made sense as Mpls and St.Paul schools were closed again. I called Luke and told him that my class was cancelled and that I would be home for the package. He said he called FedEx and it should be delivered by 2pm.

So as the morning went on I thought more about the surprise that I was dreaming about, my best friend home for Christmas. I was talking to Sari on the phone telling her that I just missed Bethany SO much. I said I thought it is because she is usually here around Christmas and the holiday's just make me miss her.

Well....I was on the phone with Sari again around 2PM. I kept going in Aubrie's room to see if the FedEx delivery person was here because I had nothing better to do. Now I was excited to see where this package was coming from.

Just before 2PM I looked out the window and saw some old blue truck, then a girl get out of the front seat! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! I said to Sari, "Holy @&*(!!! Here she is!!!" and hung up on Sari. (She knew what was coming!)

MY CHRISTMAS DREAM CAME TRUE!!!! Santa brought me Bethany and Kurbis on my front doorstep! The minute I saw them I started crying. It had been just about 1 year since I had seen either of them. I was so excited. And how awesome they were finally able to meet Aubrie!
We had a wonderful afternoon and evening catching up and I am SO excited that my best friend is home for Christmas.
THANKS SANTA

I still have to keep looking at these pictures to pinch myself and say, "they are really here!" Luke and I both couldn't be more thrilled.

Pictures from the week...

These are my baby plants....I will explain. This plant on the left is a Gerber daisy that I was given the first Mother's Day after I lost little Brian. It has stayed alive since...The blue potted plant was given to me when I lost our 3rd baby, boy #2. I will have to re-pot them this spring, but It is special to have them alive still!!!

I feel like there are barely ANY picture of Aubrie and I since I take them of her by herself and with everyone else. Not the best picture of me, but she is ADORABLE even though she isn't looking at the camera. :)

Aubrie likes to hang out with her doggies.

A Succesful Exchange

Well, the cookie exchange on Wednesday night was a blast and a success. I now have way too many cookies at my house that I need to start giving away or I will consume ALL of them!

What Aubrie does while I am on the computer :)

And yes.....her Nuks always end up upside down!

Monday Funday in the Peterson Home

Since we were expecting to be snowed in over the weekend Luke rented the first season of 2 TV Show Series that we have wanted to see, Dexter and Mad Men.
At first I didn't like Dexter, too disturbing, but I couldn't get the darn show out of my head so we kept watching. Needless to say we spent Saturday and Sunday curled up on the couch watching our new TV shows and playing with Aubrie.

For the past 3 years in my neighborhood we have done a cookie exchange. So, yesterday Aubrie and I made our cookies for the exchange. And yes, I did set my camera on auto to try and take pics of Aubrie and I...I know, I am a dork. But I was able to get my 6 dozen cookies made. An accomplishment as I hadn't taken a shower in 3 days :)

Happy Thanksgiving

We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

We spent Thursday at Luke's parents house and had a nice time. Aubrie was able to see her Great Grandma Joyce and Gerry. Then on Friday she got to meet her Cousin's Charlie and Willy and Abby who is in Ireland....Aubrie Skyped for the first time :)
We headed to the lake with my family on Friday and had a great time. A nice big dinner on Friday and then games of course. Then on Saturday Luke, Sari, Ryan and my Dad went to a game farm Pheasant hunting and Aubrie and her Grammy and I stayed back and hung out. Everyone came back and Aubrie got to take a nice long nap withe her Uncle Ryan.
We had a great weekend.
The pictures above were taken by Kaleigh from Paisley Ann Photography, http://www.paisleyannphoto.blogspot.com/
Sari found her online and she was looking for baby models. We can't wait to see the rest of the pics, but the couple above are a sneak peak for you.
Have a great weekend everyone. I am hoping to get Christmas up in our house this week! :)

I have been HORRIBLE at blogging....I know....

Aubrie is doing great! She is a good eater and sleeping 7 hours at night! She eats about every 2-3 hours during the day so I think that helps her for the nighttime. She has started to really focus in on faces and will even smile here and there.it is so fun!

Luke is busy with hockey. He is coaching again the Wayzata Squirt A team. He is really excited about this year and the new team they have. It has been a little chaotic for him with going back to work, having a new baby at home and hockey, but he seems to be managing pretty well.

I am doing well too. The highlight of my weeks have been the ECFE class we are taking through the Osseo district. Class is on Tues. afternoons for just over an hour. Last week Aubrie was awake the whole time. We sang songs with our babies and just talked about life as a new mom.

This week we are going to Luke's parents on Thursday for Thanksgiving and then up to the lake Friday for the weekend with my parents, Ryan and Sari. They will go hunting Saturday and my mom, Aubrie and I will hang out at the lake. I love being at the lake in the fall, it is so fun.

Hopefully my computer will let my post some pics soon.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!!! This year we are so Thankful for our healthy baby girl!!!

10 days old on 10/31

Almost 3 Weeks

Aubrie will be 3 weeks tomorrow. I can't believe it has already been that long. We are doing great and learning how to take care of a baby :) Luke went back to work on Monday. Yesterday we startd our ECFE class and of course Aubrie slept through the whole thing :) Hopefully next week she will be awake. Today I gave Aubrie a bath all by myself! She LOVES the warm water and being nakey...she is so cute.

I will try and post more pictures, but my computer is not being nice to me for some reason.

I am excited to have these next few months to be a stay at home mom!

Finally, THE STORY

So....Adjusting to a new baby takes time is what I am learning :)

Finally as I sit at my parents and my mom holds Aubrie I am able to update my blog...I see how it is gonna be :)

So....Finally, The Story....

It all started Tuesday, October 19, 2010. I headed over to my parents house after work and my dad did Acupunture on me at about 4:45PM. This is a natural way to induce labor. By 7pm I was starting to cramp. I went to bed telling Luke that something just felt different. Well, I woke up at 1AM having contractions. At first contractions were not to bad, but every 5 mins. I called the doctor and she said we could head in to the hospital, but I felt like these couldn't be real contractions as I could deal w/ them pretty fine, however I couldn't sleep. So I tried to lay back down and at about 4AM my contractions were every 10 minutes and hurt so bad that I was squeezing Luke's hand and craying. I told myself that if they were still happening at 8AM I would call my clinic and make them take me in right away to be checked. Well at 7AM my contractions ceased and I fell asleep. Woke up at 9AM on Wed. Oct. 20th and decided not to head into work. Instead I went to buy Luke a birthday present and then went to my dad's work. Their wonderful massage therapist gave me a 30 min. massage where he did accupressure to help induce labor. After that my dad did another round of accupuncture. (That was at 11AM-12:30PM) Then at 1PM my dad and I had lunch at Leaan Chin's. I then talked to my co-worker and it sounded like she needed some help at work so I headed in. I lasted 1 hour at work and then was starting to feel a little crampy. I left and went home to take a nap. I was lying down by 3:30pm and fell asleep I woke up at about 4:30PM to cramping AKA contractions. At about 5PM I had let the dogs out. I walked out on the deck to let them in and GUSH!!!!!!!! HOOOORAY!!!! MY WATER BROKE!!!

I wanted SO badly to experience my water breaking and I was able to!!! So I called Luke. He had been meeting w/ a client and the person said, "You should probably answer that, I better your wife's water broke." Sure enough it had! Then I called my mom telling her and then I had to figure out how the heck I was getting to MG to my parents house to meet Luke and my Mom to head to the hospital.

My lovely neighbor Erica drove me to my parents at 5pm, meaning she had to once again drive home in rush hour traffic. THANKS ERICA! You're the best!!!

We were on the road by 5:45PM on our way to the hospital. Funny thing, we were SO stuck in traffic. My contractions at that point were 5 mins. apart and did NOT FEEL GOOD!!!

As I was checking in at the hospital my sister arrived with gifts already in hand shouting, "We're gonna have a BABY!!!!" :) She was a great cheerleader!

I got checked in I was dilated to a 3 1/2 and 70 percent effaced. The sent me right into a Labor and Delivery room.

Next thing I knew the whole family was there, Luke, My Mom, Sari and Ryan, Debbie and John and Rebecca. Both our Dad's came that evening after work but we sent them home to get some sleep as it turned out to be a LONG night.

(OK, I know this is a long story)

So....Basically I started dilating and at about 4AM I had stopped at a 6 1/2. The doctor came in and said they had to put an internal monitor on and that I possibly was looking at having a C section if things didn't start to progress. Tears filled my eyes immediately when I heard that and I started praying that she would hurry up and come so I wouldn't have to have a C section. I know some people just LOVE them and that is the way they would always choose to have their baby, but I wanted to experience delivering vaginally.

So finally on October 21, 2010 at about 9:30AM they told me I was ready to start pushing. By this point I had barely slept in 48 hours and was exhausted. My mom left the room and it was just Luke and I and the nurse and doctor. I pushed for 1 1/2 hours and at about 11:09AM baby Aubrie Ruth Peterson came into this world on her Daddy's 29th birthday!

My dear friend Bethany said it best, "The fact that she was born ON Luke's birthday is so beautiful to me. It's like God is saying " I have seen everything that you have been through. And I am giving you both this gift. And just in case you're not sure if she is a gift from me, I am going to give her to you on Luke's birthday."

She is our precious gift!! More pics to come.

Today's The Day!!!

Well, the Due Date that is.........No signs of baby yet.
I have walked every day for the past week and a half....

I do feel a little crampy today, but nothing to call the Doctor about.

She will probably be stubborn just like her mom & dad.

I go in tomorrow for an ultrasound at 9am, if any levels are low or baby seems stressed they will send me to the hospital. If everything is ok, I have a doctor appt. scheduled for Thursday. If then still no baby, we will make plans for me to be induced on Monday the 25th. That is the plan for now.

I will keep you posted!!!

The To-Do List

So I started a To-Do list when I was about 25 weeks pregnant. Things that I wanted to get done around the house and in the nursery we needed TO DO before this baby comes. Well last night I was happy to mark off the 2nd to last thing on my list!!! HOORAY!!! When I wrote the list I stared at it overwhelmed by everything that needed to get done. I didn't think there was any way it was all going to be accomplished.

Now I am happy to say that everything that is truly important and that needed to be done before this baby girl arrives has been completed! Hooray for Luke and I!!! :)

I am sure you are wondering what has not been checked off my list......well if you enter my house you will see pieces of blue tape ALL around it. I really wanted to get around to touching up the paint in our house before baby arrives, but I just am not sure that will happen. Oh well....at least everything else is done.......now I just wait...........

Bring Sadie to Work Day

Yesterday we had our carpets cleaned and since Sadie refuses to go in her kennel I brought her to work with me. The plan was just to leave her in the car and take her out for a couple of walks, but she ended up in my office :)

She was such a good girl. She just laid in my office, found some napkins to rip up (her fav. thing to do) and then she just napped while I worked. What a good doggie!

On our way to work
Hanging out in my office
She of course found napkins to rip upWhat a good girl!

Not so comfortable these days...

I think that I have hit the uncomfortable, get this baby out of me stage!
Ok, well it isn't THAT bad....but on top of not sleeping well I am starting to get a head cold, my ankles are swelling during the day at work and this baby keeps jabbing her feet into my ribs!

I had my last baby shower last night. It was so fun because everyone brought a book for baby to start her library! My sister did the adorable decorations and my mom's friends made some wonderful food! It was so fun and what a blessing!

I have my bag partially packed for the hospital. I asked a bunch of people things to take and I feel like I heard so many things that I have just decided to bring the bare minimum...if I really need something I am sure someone can go grab it for me, right :)

I had a Dr. appointment today and was thoroughly disappointed. Dr. told me that most babies come 1 week before your due date to 1 week after your due date, so I should plan on having the baby a week after instead of on my due date, that way if she comes before then it would be good.......WHAT!!! Yeah, that was just what I wanted to hear as I am complaining about no sleep, swelling ankles and a head cold.........thanks Doc! So, I just wait now...... Work is busy so that keeps my mind occupied.

Sorry for my complain-fest.........lets hope tomorrow is a better day! But I am happy to say I have really felt good up until this point! : )

The Crib is IN!!!!!

Luke and I had a great weekend. We watched a movie Friday night and got to bed early. Saturday I had a shower in the morning and then we ran errands in the afternoon and had dinner with Neal and Lisa Cole. Neal is who Luke coaches Wayzata Squirt Hockey with.
Sunday I taught my 2nd week of Kindergarten and 1st grade Sunday school. It is funny how you go to school for something and then don't use your degree for so long.........I really have missed teaching little kids about the bible!

Our crib came in over the weekend and so we ended up being able to get that thanks to my mom and dad and putting it together last night!!! The room really has come together. I still have a bunch of stuff to hang on the walls, and we have to recover the rocker (the fabric we are recovering it with is draped over it). So we are almost done! Enjoy!

36 Weeks Pregnant Pic

Maternity Pictures

My neighbor Erica Martin is a photographer and talked me into taking Maternity pictures. I was 34 weeks pregnant at the time. Here are a few!
